Cork is forgiving underfoot, but it is not forgiving of poor preparation. Subfloor moisture, flatness, acclimatisation, expansion gaps and the right adhesive or barrier all matter. Montado keeps installation guidance specific to the product being fitted.

The best floors usually fail or succeed before the first plank is laid. Moisture readings, flatness, acclimatisation, adhesive choice and expansion gaps are not extras. They are the work.
Montado can advise from photographs and measurements first, then confirm what is needed before installation begins.
The details that don't show are usually the ones that matter most.
The right method
The right method for the right product.
Naturals and Designtrend floating floors use a click system. Naturals Fix is glued directly to the subfloor. Walltrend is glued to the wall. Each product needs its own guide, not a generic cork installation note.
Follow the Granorte guide for the specific range, including moisture testing, the correct barrier or adhesive, acclimatisation and expansion gaps. If the technical data sheet and installation guide give different limits, use the lower limit until Granorte confirms otherwise.

Before installation day
What the room needs to be ready.
- Acclimatisation Cork needs a minimum of 2 days in the room before fitting, at 18 to 26°C and 35 to 65% relative humidity.
- Subfloor moisture Below 2.0% CM (1.5% with underfloor heating). New concrete needs a minimum of 60 days to dry before flooring goes down.
- Expansion gap A 10 to 15mm gap is left at the perimeter of every floating floor to allow for natural movement.
- Underfloor heating Run for 3 to 4 days before installation at around 18°C, then returned to normal operation gradually, no earlier than 3 days after fitting.
