The specification
The floor is part of the brief, or it isn't.
Hotels, restaurants, healthcare spaces, offices. The specifier who recommends the wrong floor answers for it for years. Cork gives you acoustic performance, thermal comfort, and a material provenance you can put in a document and defend.
Sound
A floor that quiets a room
Corridors, dining rooms, studios and shared spaces all ask different things from a surface. In each one, the floor is either working with the room or against it.
Cork helps reduce impact sound. The figure depends on the range: Naturals floating up to 19dB, Designtrend 17dB and Naturals Fix 14dB. Use the exact product page figure when specifying.
For hospitality and studios, that softer footstep can be part of how the room is experienced. The exact acoustic value belongs on the product page.
Warmth
Warmer rooms. Lower bills.
Cork is a natural thermal insulator. It does not conduct cold the way stone, tile, or engineered wood does. It retains warmth and returns it underfoot.
For hospitality and studio spaces, that means a surface that feels warmer underfoot than harder finishes. Underfloor heating compatibility depends on the range and installation method; follow the Granorte guide and surface temperature limit.
Cork does not just feel warmer. It performs warmer.
Material provenance
In writing. On every sheet.
Our floors and wall surfaces are manufactured by Granorte in Portugal. Cork bark is harvested by stripping it from the living cork oak. The tree is not cut down. It regrows, and the same tree can be harvested for many decades.
Product certification, emissions and use class are shown by range on each product page and technical sheet, rather than turned into universal badges.
Cork does not just look considered. It is considered.
The material
Grown once. Harvested forever.
Cork oak bark is stripped by hand, every nine years, without cutting the tree. The same tree can be harvested for over a hundred years. The bark regrows. The forest remains.
Every square metre of Montado flooring begins in the forests of Portugal. It arrives in your project with a material story that no synthetic floor can match.
